A is for Acting
Acting is the activity or profession of performing in plays or films. One of my experiences in my life is behind acting. It is the way you express yourself in different moods. Acting is not easy. You need to enhance it. Acting is a dare for me.
Once, I am having a rehearsal for our presentation in a little organization. I was assigned in acting. While my other friends was assigned in dancing. I was just looking around the place I’ve got into. Then the leader said ‘’Ronamae?’’ Then I just smile. I was really embarrassed. On the first place, I was worrying that our presentation would be the worst one. But then I give all my best. The practices went on. It was fine but, we can’t reject mistakes. I was supposed to act as a poor. Since I’ve got a fever, they’ve been worried about me. They text me if I can present what I have practiced. Then I said yes. On that day of presentation, I don’t feel too well. They thought that I am really ok. Then, the presentation goes on. When are episode came. I pray and said, “Lord, I will offer this presentation to you.” Then my time came and I’ve acted. It was so dramatic (I feel) and the people appreciate it. After that, I am still praying that that acting deserves to be the first. When we got it, we have the chance to go in the Singapore. God didn’t gave it. Instead of champion, we got the 2nd place. It is not bad for us. We still receive a prize.
Things are upon myself. Acting is the best and worst thing I’ve ever had in my life. Still, all my sacrifices are worth it.
B as in Balanced diet
You are supposed to control yourself in eating. I am an over-weight person. I am so corrupt. In a way that all of my money was wasted in food. I feel nothing when I was younger. But when I entered my Grade 6 life, My classmates observed me. Everytime they saw me, they said ‘’Ahh..FATTY’’ then all the time I was crying. But everytime I eat I say to myself that one day I will be thinner. Then I tried everything in order for me to be thinner. But It was all wasted. Being slim can’t be get by calorie burner. You should have a BALANCED DIET. In a way that you need to have exercise at least once a week and eat healthy foods. I did it. But not all my weight decreased. I just loose some. Then ll of my friends said ‘’Oh! You need to loose more!’’ Then these things would happen if I take up too much in excercising. I can’t do it now because there is still classes. But, when vacation comes. Balanced diet is really important. When you follow it , swear SLIMMER days would come on.
C as in Cooperation
We always need it especially in a group work. I don’t have like that. I am a LAZY you know. But when it comes into my classmates, I cooperate. I don’t know why I am like this. I feel like I am so PLASTIC. This is the thing that I couldn’t enhance in our home. I am so… you know. Once I was writing something and my parents told me to help. I don’t help. I just stared at them. My mother said that ‘’LAZY’’. Then I snub it. Then, I just continue what I am doing. Cooperation is not easy when your team mates are different to you. I've experienced that. Cooperation is the process by which the components of a system work together to achieve the global properties. In other words, individual components that appear to be “selfish” and independent work together to create a highly complex, greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts system. Examples can be found all around us. The components in a cell work together to keep it living. Neurons create thought and consciousness, other cells work together and communicate to produce multicellular organisms. Organisms form food chains and ecosystems. People form families, tribes, cities and nations. Atoms cooperate in a simple way, by combining to make up molecules. Understanding the mechanisms that create cooperating agents in a system is one of the most important and least well understood phenomena in nature, though there has not been a lack of effort.
D as in Dolls
Individual action on behalf of a larger system may be coerced (forced), voluntary (freely chosen), or even unintentional, and consequently individuals and groups might act in concert even though they have almost nothing in common as regards interests or goals. Examples of that can be found in market trade, military wars, families, workplaces, schools and prisons, and more generally any institution or organization of which individuals are part (out of own choice, by law, or forced).
D as in Dolls
So, What IS The Value Of A Doll?
No matter what any price guide tells you, or what the last 20 auctions on eBay brought, the value of a doll is what any one person will pay for it. That may seem obtuse, but its something to ponder this week while you wait for Part II of this article. In Part II, we consider the effect of what the doll value is FOR--do you need to determine the value of a doll to evaluate a doll for insurance purposes? To set a price on eBay? To make an offer for to someone to purchase the doll for your collection? To determine if the price a dealer is asking is fair? What you need the price FOR can effect how you go about researching your doll's value and how you evaluate the information you find.
E as in English
History of the English Language
A short history of the origins and development of English
The history of the English language really started with the arrival of three Germanic tribes who invaded Britain during the 5th century AD. These tribes, the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes, crossed the North Sea from what today is Denmark and northern Germany. At that time the inhabitants of Britain spoke a Celtic language. But most of the Celtic speakers were pushed west and north by the invaders - mainly into what is now Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The Angles came from Englaland and their language was called Englisc - from which the words England and English are derived.
F as in Fun
Grown men (and one grown woman) playing baseball in a make-believe Yankee stadium, while a pretend commentator calls the plays and a pretend news shooter records the action on a Varicam?
Grown men (and six grown women) sitting in a darkened auditorium listening to Tom McMahon elucidate the finer points of the emerging AVC/H.26 standard? Taking bets on whether MPEG-4 will be DOA or not? Advanced Authoring Format? Metadata?
All this fun led to one broken rib and one torn hamstring, though it's not clear whether the hamstring was torn on the baseball field or during the lecture on logarithmic RGB.
I'm just having a little fun myself, in a nerdy kind of way. In fact the energy and sense of possibility at the HPA Technology Retreat was really something to see. First of all, everything came off without a hitch; attendance was up from last year, and the number of quality Hollywood and technical people who stayed for several days was truly impressive.
Part of the appeal was the way the surprisingly accessible program was organized — short, to-the-point sessions in the auditorium as well as breakfast roundtables that truly helped kick each day off with a sense of intensity and focus.
But it was also a little frustrating to hear some of the same circular arguments swirling around about digital cinema. Harry Mathias of Barco was one of the most popular breakfast hosts, so clearly the questions of digital cinema and its rate of adoption are high on people's radar. There were even some new twists to the discourse, especially in the area of Who Will Pay. But there was much said in earnest that I have heard before: Mark Schubin, for example, seems to unequivocally prefer film even when the objective quality of film and digital are the same, sounding much like a vinyl fan who prefers LPs to CDs. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Brook Williams of Texas Instruments and Mathias point to surveys that indicate impressive audience preference for digital screens; these surveys are undoubtedly true, but they are not publicly available since they put theater owners in a tricky position when it comes to asserting they can't afford to buy digital technology.
As a moviegoer, I prefer digital screens (or answer prints), but I also respect that the naysayers are not trying to impede progress, only demanding that progress be made without compromising what matters. So party on, I say. And may our most pressing battles in 2003 be over digital cinema.
HPA President Leon Silverman and master of ceremonies and program organizer Mark Schubin should be very happy with their event, as should HPA coordinator Eileen Kramer and everyone who helped on the logistical front. Thank you everyone.
I also want to say thanks for all the smart technologists who showed up and participated with such commitment. Compression algorithms and file encryption may not be the reasons film and television are made, but they're as powerful a force in shaping and enabling culture as any story. And they're just so much fun.
